I have been in communication with the commander of the Southern Police
District, Major Scott Bloodsworth. The investigation of Tuesday night's
shooting is still preliminary and is very fast-moving and fluid; certain
unspecified information is still sensitive and the Major is setting into
motion several, again unspecified, measures.
>From Major Bloodsworth:
"This appears to be a drug dispute between two groups. We have a lot of
good information that is very sensitive at this time but I am very
optimistic this situation will be resolved soon. One individual fired a
shotgun at the intersection of Heath and Patapsco which struck one person in
the chin and side. A resident of 23 Heath Street was struck by glass from
his TV shattering when the pellets went through his front window. The victim
from the 7-11 was shot at Heath and Patapsco and had ran from the scene and
jumped in a cab.
I would be on the lookout for any suspicious cars circling the block that
don't belong in the area as well as any groups of people congregating that
don't belong in the area. I have increased enforcement in the area and the
investigation is continuing. The vehicle used the night of the shooting was
a black car, possibly a Chrysler. This incident involved both White and
Black Males. The tape I received today did help corroborate things as we had
gotten a few different versions. I will keep you updated as things develop."
